Mermaids
A flick of a tail on the waters edge,
A ripple of sunlight shines through the waves,
I stand on the ship, staring cross the ledge,
But oceans depth engulfs you like a grave;
A strand of hair, a glitter, a shimmer,
You break the surface, I gaze with dazed eyes,
Your slim torso shows an obvious swimmer,
With fins of a fish, comes as no surprise.
You call to me softly, a luring song,
A melody so sweet, it calms a storm.
And to be with you, that feeling, I long,
So dearly, to change, to be like your form.
Yet, dear creature you can never be mine,
For you are too stunning, far too divine.
